Ate at Fox Bros BBQ at the battery. I knew better than to try the brisket, but these texas fries as an app for 12 bucks caught my interest.
The brisket pieces tasted good but I suspect it's just whatever overcooked brisket is left on the cutting board. The bbq sauce was B- but thankfully they used it sparingly. The fries were perfect, their layering of ingredients made for no soggy fries and the portion was enough I wasn't hungry during the ball game at all. The brisket my step-dad ordered looked OK but was super fatty so I don't think they trim much if any fat cap.
Not really near Truist, but at least with lunch time weekday traffic this place was about 20 minutes away.
The Green Manor
It's a buffet and nothing to write home about, but the venue is really cool, plus there was a group of older ladies dressed in their Sunday best (on a Wednesday) playing bingo in a parlor room off the buffet adding to the atmosphere. To top it all off, ALL of the staff was top notch. Empty plates never sat for more than a few seconds, and it became a game trying to get my sweet tea below half without them topping it off.
Chicken was ok but missing something, nothing a few splashes of hot sauce couldnt cure. Fish was flavorful but dry, and oddly the curry pork was my favorite. ( I despise most curry). Collards and cabbage was ok, carrots amazing, cornbread pretty decent. They had tater salad and Mac n cheese, neither of which I will normally eat but the rest of my partysaid was good.
Jerod Broussard it was Turner Field (drove there today to check out the parking lot of Fulton County next to it) and the college uses it. Not sure what year that all happened. Never been here before, but we don't have MLB in NC so gotta travel to see my Giants when I can.
I wish I had seen this earlier - there are a few places at the Battery and not too far away that aren't too bad - I go to a game every few weeks as I work about 15 minutes away. Between work and having to get my son to and from his Atlanta CV practices and events, about the only time I have to myself these days is during the drive to work or after I drop him off and I'm on my way back home.
