Sorta-fast BBQ

I starred eating at Sonny’s Fat Boys BBQ in Gainesville Fl when I was in college in the 70’s. We would get the sliced pork dinner for $5.50 on Sunday nights. (this was when a six pack of Miller Highlife beer was $1.99 😁)
For the past 40 years I occasionally stop in at Sonny’s (they dropped the Fat Boys) and get the Baby Back Rib lunch special for about $12.99
Today I stopped in for lunch and no more Baby Back Rib special so I tried the Sliced pork and Dry rubbed ribs combo. Came with beans, fries and garlic toast for $12! It was awesome and I took one rib to-go, couldn’t eat it all.
Hat’s off to Sonny’s for decent BBQ at a decent price!

I always enjoyed Sonny's bbq back when I was in college. We would go there for the various all-you-can-eat specials throughout the week. Some days it was the sliced pork, other days the BBQ chicken. I thought it was amazing BBQ at the time!

smokenoob if there were a Sonny's nearby, I guarantee I would likely make it a part of my restaurant rotation. Sadly, I don't know of a single location in Alabama. All the ones I frequented were in Athens, GA or Marietta, GA, 40+ years ago. I think I stopped and fed the family at one back in the 1990's when traveling through Georgia.
