    Seeking Key West Restaurant Suggestions

We’re sitting in an airport waiting for a delayed flight to Key West. My wife and I started discussing restaurant ideas and agreed we should reach out to our expert eating friends. We’ll be there through lunch on Thursday. This is at least our fourth trip to Key West, but the first since 2015. We are pretty well covered regarding touristy stuff
unless something new has come up since then.

Does anyone know if El Siboney is still THE place for authentic Cuban food and is Sandy’s still the go to for cheap Cuban sandwiches? Is there any good barbecue we should check out? What about seafood (I know there are a million) which really kick butt? Breakfasts?

    TIA

You're a few days ahead of us, will be landing in Key West next Monday on our way to Islamorada. Have stayed in KW a bit but not since Covid hit so I'm no help as to what is there now. Louie's Backyard and Martins were our favorite at the time.

If you try Louie's don't drive there it's residential and absolutely no parking. Hotel shuttle or Uber.

No Name Pub on Big Pine Key is a fun place if you can find it 😁

Square grouper in Islamorada is excellent, always a line.

Farthest down I’ve been is Key Largo. I found that asking the locals was the best bet. The sunset side restaurants I found were highly rated on Google but, as I found out from dive crews etc, those ratings were mostly for atmosphere and not food…and especially not for value. Lot of NYC prices for seafood that should've been cheaper. 🤷‍♂️ No help, sorry.

Envious of both of you traveling there. Was there 23 yrs ago on my honeymoon so my recommendations likely don't even exist any longer. Look forward to maybe hearing or seeing some parts of your trip. Enjoy!

Sis-in-law recommended that one too. We’re planning to be on Stock Island around lunch time Wednesday.

We stay on the west end and will sit in Alonzo's (by the water) sometimes thru their happy hour (great oysters) and really like this place, been going there for 7-8 years. Talk with Coach behind the bar. Old Town Tavern on Duval is another of our favorites. A great grouper sandwich, Shepard's Pie, specials and a good happy hour. I think both places have some apps on half price during happy hour. The Schooner Wharf has a great blackened snapper melt (enough for two). The Breakfast Club for breakfast is really good too. Enjoy!

If they are still there, Garbo's Grill is good. I always stay on Marathon Key. If you get up there, Barracuda Grill is very good and The Wooden Spoon has a great breakfast. Keys Fisheries is a trendy place but the Lobster Reuben is pretty good.
