Well, I am 2 hours north of Birmingham. I go there maybe once or twice a year, on little day trips. Alabama Smoke and a few others are down there and may have idea. Last time I was on my way out of B'ham I had wings at a Hattie B's, which is Nashville hot chicken, based out of Nashville but with a B'ham location now. Time before... wife wanted Milo's hamburgers, which are something she had down there as a child.

How about non-bbq options? Any gems stand out?

hoovarmin aside from stuff that is Alabama only like Dreamland BBQ (and they say the original is better than any of the franchised locations), I just don't eat down there enough to know without doing a google search myself... sorry!
I've had some good pizza and beer but its been years, and I was visiting a niece down there...

My wife calls me "Teddy" and I call her "Princess" and that's where "mrteddyprincess" comes from.
I have eaten at the Dreamland BBQ in Huntsville by Jim, and last summer I ate at the Dreamland BBQ in Birmingham. Absolutely enjoyed both locations. If you're in Alabama, don't pass up Dreamland!
(Good, God, I dream about it and try to reproduce that stuff on my PK 360.)

Well, maybe one of your friends with the easy bake ovens can help out!
My wife loves Dreamland - the sauce especially. I always hear how the original in Tuscaloosa is the only "real" one, but the one here is pretty good.
I would like to find a copycat recipe for their BBQ sauce, but so far, nothing online seems right.Last edited by jfmorris; February 20, 2025, 07:40 AM.

jfmorris I'm going to visit Tuscaloosa. It's on my list.
A recipe would be nice, but I buy it on Amazon, and it's dang tasty!
