Great deal on Kitchen Aid stand mixers

From Best Buy, normally 499, now 199. I couldn’t find an expiration date.

I was going to post that. You beat me to it. I'm always a little unclear on if I'm looking at the best Pro model or not. I think I would only want to upgrade if I was buying the top of the line Kitchenaid.

Yeah I have an older model that is still going strong, so I am passing on it too. Great deal though.

Be sure and check the previously answered questions on the listing, particularly with respect to the bowl lift vs. tilt head.

Bowl Lift indicates th Professional line, above th Artisan in capacity, an motor size...

      I have a CAR* one...

It's not, necessarily. Some people prefer the tilt head, I guess so they don't have to remove the bowl to scrape down the contents, or whatever. Also, apparently some versions have both features. Several of the questions and answers in the listing address this.

And here I thought the "A" stood for a three letter word ending in "ss."

@Mr. Bones wait so what is "bowl lift?. Sounds like I don't understand what it is.

It simply means that there is a mechanism that raise/lowers th bowl in regard to th mixin implement, vs th head tiltin th implement into/outta contact with th bowl/contents.

Reckon ya unnerstand jus fine, might be yer not quite envisionin it, jus yet...

That’s the price I paid for mine at Sam’s Club last Christmas - very worth it. I’ve used the tilt head and the bowl lift. The bowl lift has a crank to raise the bowl up to the mixing attachment instead of the bowl being static and tilting the head in and out of it. I think I read the artisan series tilt heads have plastic gears and the pro series bowl lift gears are metal.

Something to note is that that the Pro is substantially larger than the Artisan so consider counter space.

I want one so bad, mostly for making sausage but it wouldn't hurt for making bread and such... don't have room even though the price is so dang tempting.

If you make sausage a handful of times a year, Spend the money on a dedicated grinder and stuffer. You can find both for just a bit more. It’s worth it.

I do have the Pro mixer, and really like it. Especially for pasta!!!!! But I just don’t see it competing with a grinder and a stuffer. And this coming from a guy who bought both the grinder and stuffing attachments for the Pro mixer.

@barefly I was thinking I'd make cased jerky/sausage maybe 2-4 times per year, I make normal jerky year round already. But I guess I'll look into standalone stuff and see if a deal comes along.

A buddy of mine and I make it 3-4 times a year. But when we make it, usually making 15lbs per, so it goes pretty quick. I guess it really just depends on the volume you make. But I do need try to making snack sticks some time. Really like that, but haven’t made it.

That's a substantial deal, wow! Wife & I were gifted a bronze colored Artisan for an anniversary several yrs back and we put it through HEAVY use regularly and it's held up like a champ. I can imagine the Pro is a force.

Wow that is a screaming great deal. I have a KA Pro 600, and I love it. Well worth the money. Overkill for somethings, but nice when mixing up pizza dough or cookie dough.

Can anyone give me an opinion on this pro 500 vs the pro 600?

Nope still using the CAR like Mr. Bones but our is the Bottom of the line Artisen and I kill that sucker with the grinder attachment.

I use the pro at work for table top models. I’ll see which one it is. Don’t really care for the bowl capacity though but sometimes the Hobart is overkill.

I have the Pro 600 - I can’t give an opinion compared to the 500. I got it through an awards system my company has, with "points" and I think it was the 600 or an artisan. And, I’m all about go big! But Ive had it for nearly 15 years. It’s a work horse, and have made more pasta with it than anything. It’s been serviced once and a few parts replaced, gears if I remember. Pasta, cheese cake, some bread/cookie dough. And it sits on the kitchen island, is big, but that’s ok. there’s space for it.

These things are amazing. I have my Mom's old one. When she passed away about 10 years ago, and my Dad was selling the house, I only asked my Dad for two things .......Her stand mixer and her 12" All-Clad.

Both are now in my kitchen. I think my Dad got it the mixer for her in the early 90's and it is still ripping right along. I use it for meat grinding, mixing up rubs and making the best twice-baked potatoes ever.

Yeah mine is about 20 years old. I got it on sale before I really knew what to do with it because I used to watch my grandmother use one.

Great keepsake for you Spinaker! We have one we got for our wedding in 1981 and it's still going strong after lots of bread baking and general use.
