Just had a call from an import agent in Colombia and a client wants some beef ribs imported from the US to Colombia.
5 containers full per month.....
Anyone have a contact at a large processing company?
Can’t help you with direct contacts but here is a list of the largest beef slaughter- boxed beef companies. List is by descending size. Linkedin.com can give you some contact names and information.
Tyson Foods Inc. Springdale Ark
JBS USA Holdings Greeley Colo
Cargill Meat Solutions. Wichita Kan
Sysco Corp. Houston Texas
National Beef Packing LLC Kansas City, MO
OSI Group LLC. Aurora, Ill
American Foods Group LLC Green Bay, Wisc
Greater Omaha Packing, Omaha Neb
Wolverine Packing Co. Detroit, Mich
Agri Beef Co. Boise, Idaho
Stampede Meat Inc. Bridgeview, Ill
Caviness Beef Packers Ltd. Amarillo, Texas
Creekstone Farms Premium Beef LLC, Arkansas City, Kansas
Interesting that Creekstone is so high on the list. I got the impression from their website that they are much smaller. All the brisket that Aaron Franklin buys from them is probably what puts them on that list .
I would think it would be a relatively easy proposition for you all down there. JBS Holding S.A. in San Paulo is probably the largest food processor in the world. They own JBS USA in this country as well as other companies like Swift, Smithfield, Pilgrims Pride Chicken and even a company I featured this month, Imperial American Wagyu.
I would think being a Brazilian firm it would be possible to contact them directly in SA and cut a deal. That's where I'd start.
Talked with the agent this morning and is 5 x 40' containers of pork ribs they want. He talked about getting them smoked before shipping. Guess all this comes down to cost at the end of day. Thanks for your help guys.. Am making some calls at the moment.
I want to cut myself in on some of it if I am the one doing all the leg work
