SWMBO asked what I wanted to do for a Fathers Day. Not going anywhere, going to stay put. Always wanted to try some fancy wagyu beef so this seemed like the perfect time to rationalize just such a purchase that can be cooked at home.
For me it worked in addition to a sale. I got the "Weekend Warrior" package on sale for $275 and the promo took another 15% off of that. Shipping was $9.99. I’m excited, never ordered anything like this before, hope it lives up to the expectations... (and hope I don’t ruin some expensive beef!)
I use SRF quite often and have not been disappointed. I fact I'm smoking a 17# Black Wagyu brisket packer today. In addition to reverse searing a tri tip, cowboy ribeye and a few filet today also, all SRF. Thanks for the heads up on the sale. Need to get some steaks.
Awesome! I’m excited for the tri tip, they were readily available in San Diego but never here. Sounds like I should cook them like a big steak - bring slowly up to temp around 250F then reverse sear?
FishTalesNC I cook them on the cool side of the grill up to 190F, about an hour, then I reverse sear on the hot side to 130F. 250F and it would be tough I think.
