I don’t think I paid much less for mine 20 years ago. Rock solid, hold a good edge, been my everyday knife for years.

I have had the 10" Ikon for about 8 or 9 years also and use it more than any other knife. Like Troutman said it holds an edge

      It’s on sale everywhere.

I buy a lot from Cutlary and more because their service is great.

I have had mine for maybe 15 years. Top notch piece of cutlery. I would guess that is about 10-15% off normal price.

I got a set of the Wusthof Classic Ikon about 3 years ago and love them. Never realized how much I mishandled kitchen knives until I went from cheap, generic knives to the Wusthofs. It was probably about 2-3 weeks before my hands were finally free of cuts because I kept catching an edge or a corner of the knife, though the Santoku was definitely more to blame than the Chef's knife.

well thanks, I just put a 9 in Ikon in my basket. now I need to tell myself; with a firm tone, "take it out of your basket." I think I need a better boning knife before I get into a chefs knife, especially after I just dropped 54 bucks on that 12 inch granton blade slicer from Victorinox.

But it!! I Use the 10” Ikon at work. It’s my workhorse along with my 8” Mac Hollow edge. I use the Ikon boning as well.

There are excellent boning knives out there and you do not need to pay a fortune to get one. Take a look at this site which is devoted
                  butchering.

                  www.sausagemaker.com

The brand they sell are used by profession butchers. I believe there are 6 or 7 boning knives to choose from.

I buy all my curing supplies from this company.
