    Smoke Vault Special Buy

I was going back and forth between the Camp Chef Smoke Vault and the PBC until I checked Home Depot online today. They have the Smoke Vault 24 for $219 as a special buy. Mine is on the way and I wanted to share for anyone looking to get one as well.

Just my opinion (and I don't own one), but the PBC is FAR superior to the Smoke Vault. Plus, the 24 is quite small. I have a propane cabinet smoker at my vacay home but it is 36" and I can at least hang full racks of ribs (using hooks bought from PBC!)

Yes, that was one of the reasons I went back and forth. The lure of charcoal is strong. The thing that I really kicked it for me was I have a NG line I use for my grill that I can use for the SV as well making it really simple and no worries on fuel. I’m still looking to get the PBC.

snowswamp Is there a Propane to NG conversion kit for the Smoke Vault?

Never mind...found that Camp Chef has a conversion kit for their stuff.

JimLinebarger, yes there is. It is just a hose though. I have a 2 psi regulator on my gas line for my grill and they said it would work fine with the SV. You also need to drill out the valve. Camp Chef says use a #51 bit where other posts say to use a #52. I’m going to call and confirm which to use. I’ll post pics and steps when it’s running.

I have a Smoke Vault 24" Vertical gasser. It's probably the best one in it's price range. And I really like cooking with it. It holds a LOT of food. And it's wide enough to hold entire racks of ribs. I think you are going to like it a LOT! The PBC is a different tool in my opinion. And it has strength's and weaknesses. I plan to purchase one for Ribs, Chicken, and Turkey in particular. In time I suspect you will also own both....MCS is real!!

Same here. I'll sous vide, crutch, whatever I have to do to get good food on the table.

For those of us that live in areas that occasionally ban wood burning, an alternative is pretty handy...

Yeah, no charcoal allowed on my second story wood deck.

If I bought a gasser it would be that very one! Thanks for sharing.

Huskee , I have a smoke vault & just got a the Pit Boss 2.2 gasser after the first 2 cooks I like the pit boss much better, the temp is more stable & the pan for wood chips works better IMHO.

Come on. It’s not like you won’t be buying a PBC down the road anyway. No one has just ONE smoker.

True. I thought for sure that I'd have to get rid of the PBC once I got the KBQ. Turns out I'm allowed to keep them both!

Amen! I’m sure I’ll have a PBC in the future. I just need to spread out the purchases. 😀
