My local Lowe's had a sale price about a week before one of the big holiday's (I think 4th of July) then for the holiday week the price was dropped again to the 9.99 sale price...I went back a price matched the purchase I made the week before once the second price drop was done...
Thanks for the info. I stocked up pretty heavily during the last $9.99 sale last year, so I should be good until at least Memorial Day. But I'm always on the lookout for deals.
Both stores ran this sale early spring last year. Then, in addition to their usual Memorial Day and Labor Day sales for $9.99, both stores ran the $9.99 sale the week of Father's Day and the week of the 4th.

I saw an Instagram post recently that Walmart has a sale on the 15lb bags for $7.88. Technically that would be about 24% cheaper per pound of charcoal.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Thanks for the deal. I will probably pickup a two pack just to help build up stock while there, but will wait and hope for the 9.99 deal in May to do a massive restocking of my charcoal pile.
I've actually got a buddy who just got a Performer wanting me to go in and buy a 55 gallon drum and build a charcoal retort, and make our own charcoal. He has a friend with a tree service that he thinks he can get all the free hardwood he wants from, in order to make his own free charcoal. I'll do anything once, but am somewhat doubtful of home made lump charcoal cooking as consistently as what I get with briquets....
