What's better the Summit or a comparable sized BGE?

I have had my Summit 470 for about 8 yrs ans I have't regretted the decision at all. I have smoke pork butts and ribs, made great pizza, and lots of other stuff. The Summit line is a great propane grill but, I have other specialty grills that are really great for specific items

This is the Summit Charcoal grill he is talking about. Very different from the Summit gas grill line... sort of a cross between Big Green Egg style Komodo grill and a kettle, but without the issues of breakable ceramics.

Didn't realize there was a Summit propane.

Yup, I’ve had a Summit propane for about 4 years. Great gasser. The kamado like Summit charcoal is primo, it’s on my short, short list.

David Parrish has both and he said he prefers the Weber Summit over his ceramic kamados.

On Youtube Baby Back Maniac did a head-to-head cook between the WSCG and a comparably sized Kamado Joe. The results were indistinguishable.

My understanding is that the Weber is a bit easier to modulate if you overshoot your temperature target and that, being metal, you don't have to worry about the bowl cracking. Also, given that it's lighter than a ceramic it is easier to move.

Yea Dave and the Maniac love that cooker. I talked to Dave about a low slung SNS unit he has for the WSCGC. He claims it takes an already great cooker to being the best. Of course that's the salesman in him but I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.

I love my SNS Low Profile in my Summit. Love the DNG too!

It’s not the salesman in me at all. I firmly believe the SnS makes the WSCG better. There’s a thread or two about it around here somewhere. fzxdoc did some testing.

Come to think of it, I don't think I have heard one negative thing about these Grills

A little spendy. Seems like a good upgrade path for me one day.

I would agree. The plastic wheels should not be so. And the sticker price is still high. JeffJ Attjack

The WSCG has all the pros, and cons, of any other Kamado... PLUS

                  1) It’s lighter and easier to move around
                  2) It’s metal so much harder to break
                  3) It has a multiple grate system that makes it easier to get heat close to meat
                  4) Ash removal is a BREEZE
                  5) Because of the ash removal system you can use briquettes without worrying about too much ash blocking your air path.
                  6) Easier to bring temps down because it has much less thermal mass.

There’s probably more. That’s just off the top of my head.
