Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

I started on a Brinkmann charcoal-only, similar to this, was $80 at Home Depot. Char Broil has the same design now as what mine was. Didn't suck big time, but granted it needed mods. It got me into BBQ and I made some killer stuff on it.
You know man started out cooking meat by erecting a few sticks that held the meat into position over a fire and cooked some pretty good stuff. I'm sure this thing would work just fine, just wondering what it would look like in a year or two. Get what you pay for.....
Troutman yes indeedy. Mine lasted about 3 of heavy use, it met its demise of my own accord, an unintentional fire. Still standing though, 11ish yrs later, I use it as my burn box
I don't know anything about this model, but it seems like it would get the job done. Probably would use the propane function more than charcoal, oddly enough. I once had a Masterbuilt electric that did a good job for what it was.
