Save up your money, and buy a Yeti, that way you only cry once.

Great deal, thank you for sharing. I see no reason to buy a Yeti if these are just as good. There's a LOT of Yeti immitators like Mammoth, Ozark Trail, RTIC, ORCA, Pelican, Grizzly etc. Me, I stick with a good ol' fashioned Coleman

I needed another cooler to be my full time faux-cambro, and picked up a Coleman in great condition at my local thrift store for $3!

RTIC is a GREAT little Texas (HOU) based company. Great stuff. They were actually sued by Yeti, but their products were so good they won, (Something about the RTIC having better latches) and now make some dang dang great stuff that rivals the very best. Yeti is some of the most overpriced coolers money can buy. Buc-ee's here in Texas, a pretty famous gas station chain here carries RTIC exclusively.

All their old stuff was gone early this year. If I remember correctly, everything sold on their site after about May was the new redesigned stuff.

I have owned a RTIC cooler for two years and love it. It has kept ice and beer cold for 4 days without adding more ice and that was in July.

If Yeti's actually outperformed Rtics in any way they might be worth the premium price. However, they don't outperform them so they're not worth the price. IMHO.

You can expect even heavier discounts just after Thanksgiving. Keep a lookout.

RTIC did lose the law suite, so they made some slight design changes. I have an RTIC 65, set it next to a Yeti 65 and I dare anyone to show a $200 price difference. Yeti makes a great cooler, they are even better at marketing.

Have the Rtic 65. Ice kept for 5 days while camping.Performs as good as any Yeti as I ve seen.Retired the Coleman’s to beer cooler duties for camping. Not saying any one is better or worse, but for the money you can’t go wrong.

I have an Rtic and it's amazing. It keeps ice all day and overnight on the beach/boat in the panhandle of Florida, sitting directly in the sun in July. That's good enough for me.

When Yeti's first came out they almost separated me from a lot of my money but I was able to resist the impulse and I'm glad I did. I had never heard of RTIC until I read this thread. Because of all the great reviews here I bookmarked the page for future needs. Thanks for the link Huskee
Yeti's are good coolers but I think people have caught on to their marketing and other company's have exposed them a bit.
I have a mixed bag of coolers. Rubbermaids are useless except for dry storage. I have a Igloo I'm pretty fond of that's on wheels and is my dedicated beer/cocktail cooler. I have some cheap Colemans that get strapped to my trailer rig for food transport that perform well. I also have a Coleman Extreme that is my go to all around utility cooler.
Here is a You Tube where the Sportsman Guys tested a bunch of the high end coolers. I found it interesting.

I've never invested in an expensive cooler of any brand and didn't know frankly that there were high-end coolers. What's wrong with my coleman?!

As far as ice-keeping just a little bit of difference. As far as durability and bear proof-ness a lot of difference. If you're not dropping your cooler out the back of a C-130 into bear country I would just stick with a Coleman.

I live and camp in bear country. It's rare to even see one much less have one try to get into your cooler. I've always chuckled at the "bear proof" marketing claim.

Nothing is wrong with your Coleman, I have two myself. Resist spending a plane ticket to Disneyland on an ice box.

Gentlemen and Ladies of the Pitmaster Club –
We are beginning round two of our cooler testing, reaching out to RTIC, Pelican and Igloo - they were all contacted before the first round but never got back to us. So I'm going after them again. Stay tuned. And for everyone's edification there is NOTHING wrong with Coleman, I have two of them. But we were testing for those who want the ultimate ice-holding capability, and coolers which will take a lot of abuse. Let the buyer beware. Yeti, Orca, Cabela's, Kong, and Grizzly are fine coolers, just have different features, prices, and each one is loved by someone!

Well said. If I'm planning an 8-day trip in summer in bear country I won't want my Coleman I'll want a bear-proof mondo cooler. But if I'm planning a 4-day trip in Michigan, my Coleman is plenty good, especially at $20-50.
