Would be interested in hearing how they perform. Not to put a hex on them, but some years back (6?) I bought 4 bags of Royal Oak Ridge briquettes, looked identical to these and the descriptors on the bag were the same, i.e., “lights fast”, “burns long and hot”, etc. Same kind of deal, at Lowes, a season end sale at very low price. Unfortunately for me, they were almost worthless, dried mud would have burned better. Sincerely hoping your experience is better. 🤞

Jessterr I just did a wing cook on my 26 Kettle / vortex using the Royal Oak briqs. They started in the chimney much like any other briqs I use. They did not produce a lot of white smoke in the process, like KBB does.
The Kettle ran at 425*, which is a little hotter than it usually runs when I use B&B. But there's other factors than briqs that could've been the reason for that. Like it being windy, and I turned the Kettle lid vent into the wind.
Got the job done.

Lynn Dollar Excellent, good to hear. I may swing by the local Lowes and grab a bag or two, give it another try.

Interesting. A had a bag or two (or three) some years back (same Lowe's seasonal special) and they burned OK. Generated a TON of ash, tho. One bag got damp, and was a bear to light and keep going. I had to use it for high-heat cooking, lo-and-slow it kept going out. The others were fine.
It was very quick to light. Makes me wonder if they don't employ an expander/extender to 'stretch' the actual charcoal content and lower the price.
I'm up to my a** in KBB right now, so that's all I cook with, probably for the next decade or so.
