NC Local Market Specials 8/12 - 8/18, 2026

Not too much happening this week in the way of specials, but there are some nice ones. People are hunkering down for back-to-school, I guess. We're running around in the usual circles, and being somewhat plagued by the insistence of the weather on raining just about every day. It's hard to mow the lawn when it's all muck, don't ya know?
But the figs have decided to suddenly let loose, and now we're getting them by the dozen daily. I'm about to experiment with grilling them and having them with a table cheese, like brie or chevre. That is, if there are any left, they're so good just fresh and plain that they disappear immediately.

- LIDL: Premio Bratwurst at $2 a pound? Sign me up. I'll smoke them, then vacuum pack and freeze them in pairs for later.
- LIDL: Baby Back Ribs at $2.89. This is my favorite cut of ribs: I'll sous-vide them, then freeze them in the same vacuum bag for whenever we need them.
- ALDI: Fresh Pork Belly. You know the saying, "There's always room for Pork Belly." No? really, no?
- HT: B2G2 Oscar Mayer Weiners - these freeze beautifully in their original packaging.
