Notable market specials in the greater Charlotte NC exurb - check your local sales flyers as well (YMMV).
Ah, July... That's all.
But yes, there re still some interesting specials. Peaches are everywhere now, as is Corn on the Cob, and Melons. These are all of my favorite Grill Fest sides. The Lion has Baby Back Ribs (my fave) at $3 a pound!. Also, ALDI has Pork Belly at $3 a pound (time to make bacon!) and most chains are having good prices on Salmon Sides/fillets. Myself, I like to score some Salmon when it's plentiful, cure it into Gravlax (very easy), and then freeze it for later.
Alarmingly, Back to School season is already starting to show itself and lurk quietly in the corners. Someone at work mentioned that they have just three weeks left before school starts. What? No, too early. <Shaking head, fingers in ears> No, NO, no. But then, why am i fussing? all my kids are grown and done with college. It's just a basic visceral reaction, having gone through 28 years of kids-in-school planning.
My youngest is now a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines, and living the grand life, in addition to the physical hard work of managing passengers and flight safety needs. She brought us some Beurre de Sel from Paris yesterday, and it is SOOO good. (It's Salted Butter in English.) She says her colleagues have certain items they get from various places: one regularly gets bread from Amsterdam, butter from Paris, Olive Oil from Italy. I've half a mind to give her a shopping list. It'd be nice to have some herbes FROM Provence, you know?
