Notable market specials in the greater Charlotte NC exurb - check your local sales flyers as well (YMMV).
And it's the Fourth already! And I feel weary already, as though I've been waving a sparkler around and no one's noticing. Although there's a reason - my wife is away visiting family in Wisconsin, and I've been at home minding the cats. I've also done my usual mistake of planning out far too much food for me to actually eat before she's back. The cats are no help.
But we're officially past the halfway point of year now, and we're mostly all still here. I'm going to call it: it's time for a thanksgiving moment. I'm thankful for my far-flung family and my (messy) home, for the World Cup (<RO>, Norway!), for the food we're all here to grill, smoke, season and eat. And I still have a job. What are you guys thankful for?
Across the area, all the chains are having ribs. And Hot Dogs on various specials. Also Watermelons and Corn on the Cob (one of my favorite combos!)
Side note: for Father's Day, I gifted myself a Vitamix blender, and damn, that thing rocks. I can see why Vitamix has such a devoted following. I'm still learning its uses and tricks, but I think I will be posting some recipes for it (or its high-powered rivals) here, once I've streamlined a few. So far, I've made hummus, smoothies, milkshakes, hot soup, popovers, slushies, and sorbet. Yes, it will friction-heat soup to 180ºF. I'm amazed.
