And just like that, it's almost March. St. Pat's is coming, and I have spotted the first salvo in the Corned Beef derby -- It's at ALDI. They have Corned Beef point cuts at $3.49 per pound, which is probably the best we'll see through then. Strangely, the flat cuts are almost double that, but I expect they'll drop in subsequent weeks. Everywhere, I see evidence of cabbage, onions and potatoes dropping in price as well. Suits me fine -- this is one of my favorite dinners all year, and I also love making Pastrami from the extra beef. I'm not picky about points vs flats, I'll happily eat all of it, and whatever is left on my wife's plate as well.
Personally, it's been a professional and emotional whirlwind at work; I work for Lowe's, and a good number of my teammates and acquaintances there are suddenly -- not there. But life in a large corporation can be like that. For me, it's a just another reason to level up my skills, and make sure that people know what I can do for the company. But this doesn't mean it isn't stressful. Sigh.
Fortunately, I don't deal with stress by drinking or using drugs. I'll self-anesthetize with food, specifically, a nice big plate of barbecue. Besides, it's really past time to start clearing out the freezer. Ribs, anyone? Pass the sauce.
