    Propane pizza oven deal...

BBQGuys is offering a screamin' deal on a very good pizza oven: Everdure Kiln 2 Burner Propane Pizza Oven (Stone) - EKILN2SUS : BBQGuys

Rotating stone, top and bottom burners, very good build quality, three different colors......$349!!! Pays to buy off season.

I've been using one of these for almost two years and it does a great job. The under burner does a good job of keeping heat in the stone for good cooking of the pizza bottom, as long as you let it have some time to initially heat soak (which you have to do on all styles of pizza oven). The under burner is a good feature if you're doing multiple pizzas as the recovery time is shorter than a top only heated stone. This is a lot of pizza oven for this price.

What power needed to drive turn table? Couldn't find it on the above listing.

RlsRls motor runs on both AC or battery (AA IIRC).

You can't get one of those narrow crossbows for $349 -- think of all the money you're saving.

I wonder if Everdure is going out of business or something, for BBQGuys to be liquidating this stuff as such high discounts... 60% off on pizza ovens and 80% off on grills does not seem normal...

That said, for a 16" pizza oven, this is very tempting, assuming it stacks up well to the Ooni and Gozney units I have been pining away for...

Anything is possible, but BBQGuys has been offering steep Everdure discounts about twice a year for a few years running, so this could be their normal cycle. I've had and used a lot of different pizza ovens and this one is very competitive in build quality and cook effectiveness. Also, neither Ooni nor Gozney offer a rotating stone model that I've seen. I've had good experience with Ooni and Everdure, and bad with Gozney so I feel comfortable in vouching for both Ooni and Everdure.

I will point out that they appear to be offering the single burner version of the same pizza oven for only $249. Just no under-stone burner, meaning longer time to heat soak things.

Uncle Bob Now that you have talked me into 2 different cookers, I expect you'll be coming up in the Spring to help lay the concrete patio. Figure late March early April.

Uncle Bob Nah. You've got until May before they get to be bothersome. Still chances of snow that early in the year.

Ok Uncle Bob - a couple of questions since you say you've been using one of these for a couple of years.

              1. What is the temperature range for these pizza ovens? The BBQ Guys website says "Heats up to 932 F in 18 minutes". The Everdure website only says "Heats up to 752°F in less than 15 minutes". Nowhere does either website state a temp range. I.e. can you run at 450-500 for pizza styles that don't need 900 degree heat?

              2. It looks like the turntable is AA battery powered, but maybe it comes with an AC adapter too? How do you use it?

              3. How do you know what temp you are cooking at? I don't see a thermometer on it, but maybe I am missing something. I use an IR to read my griddle surface temp.

              4. How heavy and bulky is it to move around? I would have to store it in shed out back, and haul it out and place it on a metal patio table for use. Or get a custom cart + cover.

              Thanks!

              Jim

The flame/temps are adjustable by knob controlling fuel volume but I doubt it would get down to 450. I'd say the low is 600ish, the high near 1000. I think thermometers on pizza ovens is wishful thinking though they bring some people comfort regardless of inaccuracy. Power is both batt and AC, I use the AC because I have it available, but it works fine on batt. The measurements and weight is on the linked page, it's biggish. They show 63 pounds but that seems high.

I'd guess the weight closer to 45-50 lbs so not flimsy light. If portability is most important then one of the Ooni products would be a much better choice.

Uncle Bob yeah that is looking kinda big. Considering I don't have a permanent spot for a 30 inch deep pizza oven (that's big!), I may have to pass for the moment. The price is sure attractive though.
