Bell and Evans Spatchcocked Chickens

I happen to be partial to Bell and Evans air chilled chickens from Whole Foods. Earlier today I was in a Whole Foods and they had the spatchcocked chickens on sale for around half off. I picked up a 3lb chicken for $5.30, around $1.77 a pound. I was in a hurry and noticed the advert but I didn’t pay attention until I got home. I plan on picking up a couple more if they aren’t sold out.

I got a couple of Whole Foods' Bell and Evans air-chilled spatchcock chickens a few months ago, Kevin. I was not particularly pleased. There were a lot of feathers left on both birds.Supposedly they're hand processed, so someone must have been asleep on the chicken line the day my two birds went through.

It took time to clean the birds up to my liking. They smoked just fine and we enjoyed the meal. But I won't waste my time doing something that should be done in the processing plant. I won't be getting their whole spatchcocked chickens again.

Yes, lotta hands will be involved once the machines have thier time with the carcasses.

We have them here too. But I sure ain’t seen them that cheap.
