Notable market specials in the greater Charlotte NC exurb - check your local sales flyers as well (YMMV).
Is summer already over? Around here, kids are heading back to school in the next week (some have already started this week) and I'm a bit surprised that we're here already. Of course, I no longer have school-age kids (Yay!) and don't have to worry about bus schedules, school wardrobes, waking-up times, activities, etc. (Double yay!) My youngest is about to start her last semester of college, and she runs her own schedule (Triple yay! She was always the hardest one to get up.)
Let's hear it for homeschooling. We did our fair share of that, too. Note: it's easier to homeschool, and a lot cheaper, too.
Karin and I were both raised up north, where school didn't start until firmly after Labor Day. First ourselves, then our first wave of kids. Now we're in NC, we're safely out of that getting-kids-to-school-zone now, and only have to worry about keeping out of the school buses' way.
But yes, there's still a fair amount of summer left. There are some good specials around and about. Harris Teeter seems to be having a Hatch Chili moment, which may be a good thing? or did someone just get a good deal on them, and they don't what to do with them? Anyway, their Hatch Fest features Hatch Wings and Tenders, Hatch Chicken Salad, Hatch Mac and Cheese, Hatch Tortilla Chips, Honey Hatch Cornbread, Hatch Crab Cakes, Hatch Crab Dip, Hatch Shrimp, Hatch Better Butter, Hatch Chicken Skewers, Hatch Cheddar Burgers, Hatch Empanadas, and of course, Hatch Chilies by themselves. There's more, but I got tired.
