Um, yup, I missed last week. But I had had some minor surgery last week as well, so I got knocked over for a moment. (Don't worry, it was nothing big, but healing has taken a lot of the wind out of my sails.)
But anyway, It's definitely summertime, so look up those specials on fresh melons and sweet corn! Also burgers, dogs and fixings. It looks like we are in peak season for fresh cherries, so I'm grabbing them while they're here, and I'm NOT SHARING. (All right, you can have some.) Please also consider a nice bowl of ice cream, perhaps with some sliced peaches or strawberries ladled over the top.
Or blueberries! Right now, I'm up to my a** in blueberries; the bushes in the yard are ripening faster than I can pick them, or (since we are now empty nesters) eat them. Don't worry tho, they will not go to waste. I have a recipe (my wife's) coming soon for a blueberry sauce that is fantastic with grilled meats.
