Well, Father’s Day is upon us, and that means more grilling, so Dad can get away from the kids and maybe have a beer or two. Or a nap. Or both.

There are some decent values this week to mark this, as well as the final weeks of the early spring berries, and heading into melon time. Aldi has pork Belly at $2,99 a pound, which is a very good price. Some caution, though: I have gotten both beautifully-trimmed-and-ready-to-baconize pieces, and rough-hewn-raw-dog-rind-on pieces at different times. So I’m on point; I may be Makin’ Bacon, or tying this up in a roll and slow-braising it for Chashu (to go on my ramen). Either way is grand eating. Sometimes I will level-up the Chashu by smoking it like bacon anyway, it is soooo good.
