Well, the holiday at hand is now Mother's Day, and that means -- brunch? Apparently, the marketers think that only breakfast foods are what Dads and kids are capable of reliably producing for Mom on her day. (Myself, I'm just trying to cajole the kids to call my wife on the day, and then maybe I'll cough up some flowers. We're still eating the Easter Candy. We do not move quickly.) Specially-priced (exorbitant) bouquets and baskets are also being pushed.
Myself, I will attempt to please with some hibachi stir-fry on the flat-top, and perhaps anything else she might want. I will have to ask her, I can never tell, although she insists that I should know by now, if I had only been paying attention. I'm not sure though, I wasn't paying attention.
But apparently Grilling Season is now at hand! Which raises the question: when is it ever not grilling season? However, we are die-hards about that. I guess it's Grilling Season for Dilettantes, and there we go.
