Going to Restaurant Depot today! Anything special to look for??

I think I'm going to make my first trip to Restaurant Depot today.

I've watched a bunch of online videos and I am excited to check them out, I may not even buy anything, but what specifically should I look for or at? Besides MEAT, of course! I'm especially interested in their pork belly, briskets, etc.

But I'm open to other suggestions!

Also interested to see if they have whole carcasses at this one, I've seen whole lamb carcasses in some of the videos. Do they ever do whole suckling pigs or anything?

The Prairie Fresh ribs are really good.

Other than that, our local RD was a disappointment to me, and I let my KCBS membership lapse because it was the only benefit I was interested in using regularly. But each location is different. Ours was all choice grade beef, and prices weren’t anything special. The local Sam’s Club is better quality and cheaper.

Keep an eye on your budget for the day! I went there once and oh boy. Did I have fun. 🤦‍♂️🙄

I like the bone in butts, brisket from Costco is better. I once found a 22lb. shoulder clod, that was fun.
I also get a lot of spices, and the heavy duty foil.

I got a beef rib plate (4 to a pack) once that was good. I also like buying the 5 lb. boxes of cold water lobster. Love making lobster rolls. Look to see if they have Tri-tip. If they only have the Halal TT, don't buy it.

Yes, I've seen suckling pigs at my RD.

            What's wrong with halal tri-tip?

realdocBBQ it’s prepared in accordance with Islamic guidelines. Like Kosher meat. Nothing wrong with that par se, but you’re not getting graded beef (choice, prime, etc.). Also, when I bought it for a party, the size of the meat was small, which threw off my timing while cooking it.

Ok I knew what halal was, just thought maybe it tasted bad or something.

Beef cheeks. Bbq and then confit beef cheeks are better and waaaaay easier than brisket. IMHO.

The more I think about it, I think that can't be whole beef cheeks - that HAS to be like beef cheek trim meat or something. No way they'd be selling whole beef cheeks at that. Hell, ground beef is way higher than that.

Extra wide 24'' Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil, as well as resturant-grade BPA food film wrap which is thicker than Saran Wrap. Plastic storage containers of all sizes.

You know, I didn't even notice any knives. I'm sure they had them, there were lots of utensils and pots and pans and such. I've got a ton of monster knives, though.
