AAFES has a decent sale on appliances for AD and vets through 26 Feb

Due to a new development they don't sell appliances direct really now, but they have a "deal" with Home Depot. Pricing comes out similar to a current Home Depot sale but no tax and free delivery.

Just "saved" 1,300 on a new washer and dryer with free delivery. Not too happy that installation requires hoses and stuff but it was only like 30 bucks per appliance with the sale and of course the best benefit no tax. Only reason it miffs me is I don't need the hoses as I just bought high end hoses in the last year, but it's the only way to get professional installation.

Any vets with exchange privileges should be able to use the below link to make an account and then get forwarded to HD. The interface sucks and I can't find a search feature but I was able to research on other sites and then narrow down options to only show the items we wanted.

Glad you saved a bunch on your new appliances. I usually try and get my larger purchases through AAFES because it is usually a little cheaper and definitely for the no sales tax. Just purchased a new LG tv last month for the living room. During the holidays I finally realized what a shi**y tv I had out there after sitting with visiting family watching a movie. Still takes awhile for Estes to deliver something, but I’m patient. HD will probably deliver much faster.

The sale, plus a $500 instant rebate made the purchase easier to swallow, but a washer and dryer shouldn't cost the same as my first car did... or I'm finally getting old. Whatever We could absorb some of the cost selling our old units, but we decided we'll donate them to an Airman getting their first rental or home that might not have the funds for a washer and dryer.

Wow, been a while since I've seen that acronym - AAFES!

So, for future sales... use this service at your own risk. After 2 cancelations, I finally got my appliances today. There was no way to communicate effectively with HD or AAFES due to the way the order goes in.

Delivery guys were super nice. However they can't add plumbing tape or putty to fixtures, and they can't use any existing hoses. Theres no way to remove the charge or delivery of these items. I may have distracted them and put it on myself before hoses were installed.

IF the appliances don't work once unboxed, you can't return them and have to use the manufacturer warranty. In my case not an issue as everything works.

Anyway, knock on wood, everything seems good. I wasnt in a hurry for this stuff, but going from a weekend delivery to where I had to take even an hour off work was not ideal.

STEbbq yep, I'm happy, I just couldn't recommend the process that the 2 companies currently have to anyone with an urgent need.

I’m glad it worked out okay for you. I have read that the AAFES/HD interface is really not up to par yet. Hopefully it will improve as I read it can be a pain to get a proper delivery time. But again really glad it worked out and you got working appliances and major savings.

I need to look into this, I'm not sure if I have AAFES privileges so a little research is in order.

Edit: Good news, I am qualified!

My understanding is that Congress changed the rules about a decade or so ago. I left the reserves in 1999 (USAR 11 1/2 years with Desert Storm 1991 service thus I'm classified as a veteran) and I was not allowed on base to use the PX once I left the service. I still can't go on base but now with everything online I can now use the PX thanks to Congress so I'm happy, I just can't think of anything I need to buy right now.

58limited depending on the base commander you should be able to get a veterans ID and go in person the BX/PX and Commissary. Some bases have stopped that due to local threats or other reasons.
