Ok, maybe not Brontosaurus, but definitely a monster - maybe Triceratops, or at least Diplodocus or something?

I was shocked at the size of these two behemoths! I mean, most tri tips I see are like 1.5 up to maybe a hair over 3 lbs. But damn, FIVE POUNDS????
Well, the 'smaller' of the two went home
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Guess I need to head to my Publix and see. The BOGO shows "tri-tip roast" on BOGO for $12.99 a pound here. I never see tri-tip at most stores around here, but admit I have never looked for it at Publix. At half price for $6.50 a pound, that isn't bad at all.
Good to see we get something right here on the West Coast. The Tri-Tip cut originated in Santa Maria, CA back in the 50's or 60's. It is a very normal cut to find out here. My local Krogers (Ralph's) has it on sale at least once/month trimmed.
3.5 lbs is a good size. That will feed a few people. Nice find.
