Costco Find: Grill Wood Pellets--Dang, I am sorry I am so late on this!

We live in Southern California. Went to Costco on this past December 20th (2024). Found and bought , 40 pound bags of wood pellets for our pellet grill. The Deal: each 40 lb bag is $12.99 (US) per.

Compare this price to the pellets we had been buying at Lowe's: "Pit Boss" 40 lbs competition blend, currently selling here for $16.99. The price on each of the Kirkland and Pit Boss was for stuff in-stock, buy it and walk out the door.

I mean, At Lowe's I can find other stuff on-line but would need to have it ordered into the store to be picked up by me. Almost instant gratification is my happy spot here!

If you're interested in the Kirkland BBQ Hard Pellets look for "BBQ Hard", Premium Blend (oak, hickory, maple, cherry), Food Grade Wood Pellets, Kirkland (Branded). They even have " . . . from the forests of North America." on the bag.

If you have the room to store and the money to buy, you might want to stock up.

These have been available at Costco here for quite a while and are in stock year round. I have using them for a year and a half with great results. Highly recommend.

I'm envious! The only stuff I had seen previously at Costco were Traeger pellets. Maybe I shoulda looked at Costco sooner?!? Still, compared to what I have been using (Pit Boss 40 lbs), it's a good deal.

Foehn Watts. Same here. Our local store always has Traeger pellets, but they also sell Traeger grills. Not sure I’ve ever seen Kirkland pellets there.

My local Costco online shows Kirkland 40# bags for $20.99, but says prices may vary. I guess I need to check out the pellets in the store to see how they are priced. I am in southwest Riverside county.

I have seen some prices higher on Costco.com than in-store. I went to the Costco in Rancho Cucamonga/Ontario, by the Ontario Mills Mall.

I try to avoid Costco during the holidays. Maybe I shouldn't! --and maybe I should go and buy a few more bags . . .

    Kirkland signature anything is good.
Smoked my Christmas brisket with Kirkland pellets, Kirkland vodka in the bloody Marys, and I may have been wearing Kirkland jeans at the time.

Must be the instore price because it is showing $20.99 online.

I just purchased a 40# bag for $12.99 at the Costco in Temecula. We'll see how it goes.

Ugh, being inside that store made me dizzy. I couldn't find the pellets or a clerk. Finally found a nice gal folding shirts who told me where to go. Being in that store was like being in an ant hill or bee's nest. Too many people. Then, Temecula traffic on 15 north. ☹️ Anyway, got a good deal if it turns out that I like them. 🙂

Purc I just happened to be in Temecula, but I won't go to that Costco again. Lake Elsinore's Costco is pretty busy, but Temecula was much worse, and the store layout was kind of odd. Temecula has grown so much, that the traffic is always bad everywhere in that town. People escaping the high cost of housing in San Diego have gone there.

Carolyn I lived in Mission Viejo back in the mid 80s and Temecula was a great little town with wineries that we went to several times. Times do change.

Purc The wineries are still there, and an Olive oil business that managed to purchase land that has its own water source. It is pricey olive oil.

I saw some here in Chicago too! I think Wild Fork has a better price, but glad to see them back at Costco!
