So I looked at this - never heard of it, but may be interested. It says you access the books through Kobo.com - not sure how that works, do you know? Do you have to download it to a 'licensed' reader somehow like a Kindle or something? I use my cheapo tablet to read books with an open source freebie software. I'd prefer to download the book file (.epub or something) and read it that way. I think I use Moon Reader or something?

Anyways, if I have to download through Kindle or whatever, I'm probably out. I don't like using their proprietary software, etc. Mainly, I just don't connect my tablet to the internet, I put book files on a memory card from my computer. Usually because my tablet is just so cheap, old and slow, I don't want to have to do updates and such which generally bloat the OS and other software and it stops running worth a damn. I'm not using an iPad or something, or updating my device every year or two - I used a Samsung tablet from... 2014? until about 2y ago when I bought this cheap Asus tablet. I literally use if for nothing except as a book reader and don't want to put other shite on it.

I'm not 100% sure, I haven't used kobo before but it looks like you can download the books in multiple formats. https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...-device-or-app

If you can download the books as files, there are a number of readers. For the Apple environment(s), I've found that the Books app is most forgiving for various formats.

Thanks for sharing. I am a sucker for helping getting children reading. My family and I are avid readers, we support out local libraries and have donated more books than I can count. I purchased the whole set for what I have paid for just one book (I did pay more than recommended). What series do I start with?

Dear heavens, I read the first book (Shannara) over 45 years ago. The series (I mean the author Terry Brooks) is still alive?

And still cranking out a book almost every 12 months. He ended Shannara a few years ago but he couldn't stay away and has a new one out or out soon anyway

And the Landover series (which I wish someone would make a TV series of) and whatever his last trilogy was (I bought it but it's a rough read for me as I'm not big on 1st person narrative books)

I’ve read all of the 30-something Shannara books more than once. There are websites that list reading order in Chronological or Published order. Good story and I am not sure I am happy with how he concluded it. I wish there were more ties between the Word & Void series and Shannara, with the King of the Silver River and all that storyline…

He changed his mind and there's a new Shanara book coming out early next year. He finished his series I wasn't interested in with a book published 2 days ago and decided he wasn't done with elves and such
