Good find. I'm actually thinking of making the switch because the last two bags of FOGO I bought were LOADED with trash debris.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
It’s the same here in PA. hoovarmin, do you get the yellow bag or black bag FOGO? I used to get yellow but now get the black. It’s cheaper than the yellow by half, but it’s the exact same product, just smaller pieces. (Right now it’s $20/17.6lbs). I like JD and FOGO equally, no preference, but I haven’t had any problems with debris.

I have no vested interest in JD, only that I prefer lump to briquettes, so I use a variety of brands.
There are all manner of opinions on the interwebs, so, in the end you believe what you want to believe. For reference though, JD advertises itself as being made from quebracho wood, that name roughly translates to "axe breaker" referring to the hardness of the wood fiber. Several well known brands are also from the same wood.
Here's an article that may be of interest: Why It Pays To Grill With Quebracho Charcoal (tastingtable.com)

I just checked out Jealous Devil Chux on the NakedWhiz.com website and their comparison puts it a notch above B&B but Jealous Devil’s other variety doesn’t rate as well. I use B&B so I think I will give Jealous Devil a try.

I’ve used both, and really they’re both fine. I’ve found that once I get into the mid-high consumer quality stuff (FOGO, JD, Rockwood, B&B, etc), the differences aren’t that great. Drop down, and it’s a pretty big drop; go up, and you don’t get that much more. Middle ground is the sweet spot for me!
