Never heard of Giant Food. Wonder if they sell Glutton Man TV Dinners (Far Side). -

Take note: I was just at my local Giant Food and did not buy a rib roast. They were selling select grade meat for the sale price of $4.77. It was not a total loss because they had choice strip roasts for $5.99 with coupon. I found a well-marbled strip roast and went home happy. The rib roasts at my local store had no marbling. I new they were select grade, but asked because they were not marked as such. Sure enough, the friendly meat man said it was so.

I was just at Publix where they have choice rib roasts for $6.99 a pound. Wasn’t ready to toss a $135 hunk of beef into the cart though, when we were there for under $20 in other items. I’ll sneak back before Christmas though on my own and get one or two.Comment

I have seen that special as well, although in previous years Publix has had it for $5.49 through Christmas. I'm hoping I can wait and they will drop it to that price (or closer to that price) as Christmas nears (come Wednesday?). If not, $6.99 / lb is still a damn good value.
I do make secret side trips to Publix for _specials-we-don't-want-the-wife-to-know_, but as often as not, it's for their fried chicken, which is stellar. -
BBillFleet oh yeah - right now Publix fried chicken is my favorite in town, and probably the best value as well.
