I’d never had any enameled cast iron until last year. Based upon some comments here I bought the Lodge 6 quart Dutch oven in red. I love that thing, food rarely sticks to it and cleanup is a breeze. It heats up and cooks just like regular cast iron. I like it so much that I no longer use my regular cast iron Dutch oven. If you’re on the fence about trying enameled, just go for it!Last edited by Panhead John; November 24, 2023, 01:32 PM. Reason: Made correction from 6.5 qt. to 6 qt.

I have the red as well. Michael_in_TX I have heard plastic scrubbie or scotch brite. Brillo or other agressive matl may be too much.

I agree Alan. I wouldn’t be comfortable using a Brillo pad either. I have one of those dish scrubbers you put soap in the handle, works great. If needed I’ll let it sit in the sink with hot soapy water for a few minutes, everything comes right off.

Alan Brice Panhead John You're both exactly right! I totally meant ScotchBrite when I wrote Brillo. Yeah, let's not be using steel wool on that enamel!

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
I have the 6 qt in red. I got a year ago at the same price as listed today. Really a nice piece for versatile cooks.

I've got one on the way. We'll need to try the basque bread recipe we got from a restaurant that closed in it. We tried it in a Coleman cast iron Dutch oven and it didn't work out right.
