    Discount for Kroger Card holders

I have been watching a couple of big dog briskie at my local Kroger, for the past week.
They went into the case at $5.99 today they were $2.99. Granted they were choice,
but I haven't seen prime beef for quite some time. Unless it is a ribeye for $32.99 lb.
I bought the 15.81 as opposed to the 20 pounder.

Costco, usually has Prime, and normally cheaper than Choice. Weird.
The last Costco Prime I got had a ridiculous amount of fat outside and inside.
Much more fat inside than any other Prime I've had. Was not a fan.

I talked to the butcher at Costco last week, he said there is a new policy. All their prime beef is going to the steak houses. Have not seen prime in months. Maybe a ribeye or two for $32.99 lb

Does your Kroger have a "manager special" section in their meat department? That is where I buy most of my steaks. Unfortunately, the word is out and customers check this section all the time now. But I still find Prime ribeyes and NY strips marked down 50%. Bought a .9lb Prime NY strip the other day for $14.

All meat and seafood has it's own spot. They will put on new stickies that explain a price mark down. That is what I wait for generally.

I don't understand Kroger when it comes to brisket. The majority of the time at my two local stores there are no packer briskets at all, or maybe 1 or 2 for $6.99/lb. Then one day dozens of them show up at $2.99 and sometimes $1.99.

      My Kroger never has packers.

Our Kroger always has packer briskets. All the stores around here keep them in stock. I usually wait until they drop below $2 which happens fairly frequently in our area. The Kroger choice briskets are much better than other choice briskets I've had.

Smart! I am envious, we used to have a Kroger near us but it left a few years ago.

IMO 15lb briskets are far better than 20lbers- the larger ones have a greater % of fat that needs trimmed in my experience. My faves are 14-16lb. And a properly prepped and cooked Choice brisket will be virtually impossible to tell apart from a Prime one. You done good!

I looked both over pretty well and decided exactly what you have stated.
Thank you. I intend to post in SUWYC this weekend.
