    Walmart Brisket

I snagged a 12+ lb. Excel choice Angus brisket at Walmart this morning for $2.49 a pound! Now the Tyson boneless pork butt right next to it was $26!

Thanks for sharing, great price! I've had great luck with Walmart's steaks but I've never used their brisket. I know Jerod is/was a fan of their brisket.

CandySueQ - Sounds like 6 of one, half dozen of the other; might have snagged BOTH

I'm prepping, cooking, finishing and freezing brisket this weekend. Right now I have 3 briskets. Likely will fire up the Jambo to cook all 3 at once. These will be sliced, pulled and chunked and frozen for a pulled BBQ event on 3/24. I'll do butts next weekend and plan on doing boneless, skinless thighs for pulled chicken on site. Last count, I'm feeding about 70 people.

What is your method for reheating the frozen meats

All I see at my neighborhood Walmart are select briskets. Maybe they would be good to grind for burgers, but I don't think I want to spend time smoking one of them.

If I saw an Angus choice brisket for $2.49 a pound I would snap it up too!

Our Choice and Excel Angus Choice is currently $2.46. Certified Angus Choice is about $3.28, with sometimes considerable more fat cap. They use to trim them a bit more.

Costco in Cincy had 8 - 10 prime full packers yesterday. They were on the smaller side. I got a pretty good looking 10 pounder.
$3.49lb I have not seen any prime (cept a cpl beef tenders) for months. Costco or Krogers. I do not grocery shop at Walmart.
          Maybe I should start.

          Thanx for the heads up.
Made me look when I was there today.
          They had 2 9-10 #er's @ $2.49 lb. Took em both.
Might have to try the sous vide rest, since they're small and I recently ordered the Anova Pro.

I have never seen brisket at the local Walmart. Sounds like a good deal!

Maybe we can convince Aldi to carry brisket.
