I haven't seen pork butts at HEB for under $2/lb in over a year or so. Today they are $0.97/lb; limit 2 with $20 purchase. With their buying power I'm not sure why HEB hasn't had them on sale before, especially when lots of other chains nationwide have done so. I'll be dividing my shopping list into $20 increments in order to stock the deep freeze - I'm processing some deer and will be making sausage plus I need some pulled pork.

- Grew up in New Orleans, 20 years in Texas, 22 years in Mandeville, LA. Now Dallas, TX
That’s is really odd. They have been on sale for that price regularly at both Albertson’s and Kroger here in Dallas. Of course, it could be due to the lack of grocery story competition. The word here in Dallas is that HEB has not moved into Dallas because the grocery sore options are numerous.Last edited by LA Pork Butt; December 16, 2022, 10:14 AM.

Now that is a $20 plan--Take note one and all. Each one in a household, with their own shopping cart, in line, makes a whole lot of butts. Don't buy more than the freezer can hold or there will be a lot of cooking going on.

Oh brother...
I have to pick the one of the businesses that you have there...
Market Basket is very competitive in this market. We have to drive about 15 miles to get to the nearest one. The new one is about 5 miles away. It's going to be PACKED when it opens.

Allon Most of the Market Baskets `here are in small towns which are underserved with grocery stores. A lot of them are the only grocery store in town. There’s one in Nederland where my Mom lives, but I go to a nearby Walmart or H‑E‑B instead. I only go to that Market Basket if I need 1 or 2 items and want to avoid the crowds elsewhere.Last edited by Panhead John; December 16, 2022, 03:04 PM.

The really small towns in East Texas have a Brookshire Bros. I think their market is basically any town that the other grocery stores think are too small of a market. Brookshire Bros. version of hamburger helper is called Panburger Partner, always thought that was funny.

Grills:
Weber 22" Kettle Premium w/Slow N' Sear 2.0
Pit Barrel Cooker
Grilla Grills Chimp
W.C. Bradley & Co. Char Kettle CK-115 ~1980s Vintage Grill (inactive)
They actually did have them on sale for $0.97/lb the week of Thanksgiving, but I think it was lost in all of the turkey. (I picked one up! A dual pack even!)
But you are absolutely right, prior to November it had been at least a year since they were sub $1/lb.
I am slated to go to HEB tomorrow.....can I resist picking one up???? I don't think I can.....

So this weeks flyer came out and they must have needed to keep selling butts.........but, not at that below $1 price. Our ad is for $1.49 per lb., no limit mentioned in the ad. For around here where there's not much competition that's pretty good pricing in these times. Select grade Ribeye roast is also on ad for $9.99 per lb., meh.
