I've been a big fan of Alton "forever". Seeing him hawk "brain supplements" on TV, I'm done with him. Forever.

I gather he had a falling out with Food Network, or Cooking Channel, (I can't tell difference) so he is cashing in with cookbooks, road show.... I've seen his YouTube with his wife, on their tour, and he talks a lot about "sponsors". I can't blame him, I would likely do same, but it does kind of go against his quirky individualism. I still like him.

acorgihouse I've got no problem with his other ventures, but hawking worthless supplements goes against my grain and what Alton stood for for so long--science.
Mayim Bialik is a neuroscientist. In her TV commercials for Neuriva Plus she asserts that it is backed by strong science. I don't think so.

acorgihouse We do love Alton around here, and Alton super-appreciates Meathead (if we recall correctly). There are very few food presenters (Alton is not a "chef") who are as devoted to teaching the why of cookery in an approachable manner as Alton has done over the years.
One thing that Alton and Meathead (and the Pit) have in common is wanting to education everyone about food, and that cooking should not be scary.
>> I gather he had a falling out with Food Network, or Cooking Channel,
They're the same company, so let's run with it. Officially, Alton left the Food Network to continue working with Iron Chef America when it went over to Netflix.
He has done cookbooks and his roadshows for years and years, so none of that is new. If you watched the first year of his YouTube show "Quarantine Quitchen" (A SHOW WHICH WE RECOMMEND), then you may be able to glean some tiny, subtle insights on what may have led to some... shall we say... alleged dissatisfaction between the talent and the network.
Not saying that there was anything overly specific mentioned, but for a definite period of time, astute viewers might surmise that something was going on behind the scenes that eventually led to the decision. Whether this is true or not is open to debate, but *we* certainly thought something was up, but couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was exactly.
To quote Alton specifically about the jump to Netflix:
I knew that the show was going to be happening, and I was sick with jealousy over the idea that I was at the wrong network at the wrong time,
Goodbye is really final. Perhaps au revoir or adieu for now. I don't really think of myself as having left a place as much as I simply crossed the street to join one of my first loves. I had 20 pretty spectacular years at Food Network. I built a brand there. I became part of Iron Chef America there. But to be honest, if Netflix had taken a shot at Iron Chef without me, that would have broken my heart. [Laughs] So I had to follow that franchise, which has been such a big part of my life and a really big part of my career. And as it evolves into something new and spectacular, I just had to be a part of it.

Don't know the history of Alton, or the food network (or any other 'network' - we ditched cable YEARS ago) ... but I know engaging writing when I read it and the intro to the book (in Amazon's "Look Inside" feature) hooked me. Book has been purchased and is in the Kindle Library. Many thanks for the heads up!!
