Over on reddit's /r/smoking, someone had posted they had scored an 18" Weber Smoky Mountain for $167, as an in-store special. Their store was in Louisiana.
I noted that, and today, a few days later, made a lunchtime Lowe's run for some odd bits, paras, and pieces (as one does). My store is in Charlotte NC.
The WSM was there, but with no pricing card for it, and the display model was a price tag loop that no longer had a price tag. Using the Lowe's phone app to scan for price showed it was not in the catalog system. The website still had it in stock at $419 delivered (i.e. not in store).
I smelled a potential deal, and found a store associate to help me get a price on it: $180 in-store special. "Mine!" I said, loading it on a cart. I am a Lowes employee, so the employee discount brought it down to $162.
So -- eyes open, people! Lowe's is doing some seasonal shuffling. I also saw other Weber and Pit Boss grills in various states of packing/unpacking, or out in the display aisles, looking orphaned. There may be other bargains afoot.
Beware, these would be on a store-by-store basis, with nothing official via the website, but if one sees similar anomalies in price marking, it's worth asking. Just a note: be polite. The Lowe's store associates work hard, and they are really terrific help if you treat them well.
