    Good price on cheap blender

I’m not getting a Vitamix. I haven’t had a blender for at least 30 years, and everything has been fine. If a recipe says to blend something then I use an immersion blender, a food processor, a handheld mixer, or I make something else. Maybe if I was a lot younger a Vitamix would make sense, but not now.

But a Black & Decker 10 speed blender for $30, discounted from $50? Sure, I’m in. I know I’m not going to get smoothies the consistency of the background radiation of the universe, but I think it will definitely blend up a mole, or an aioli.

That's a good deal, but having had many of those type blenders, usually from Walmart, and then moving to a Kitchenaide someone gave us, which worked much the same, the Ninja we got a couple of years ago was a game changer.

Every other blender I've ever had would cavitate making anything thick like a milkshake or smoothy, and I had to constantly stop it, pack it down with a long spoon, start it. Took minutes. With the Ninja, due to the design of the longer blades and the programs it runs where it varies the speed, stops, starts, etc, its a totally hands off process, even for super thick stuff. Well worth the $79 I think it cost me.

That said, as long as you are not making super thick smoothies like my wife, or milkshakes like I used to (we rarely have ice cream anymore), I am sure this B&D will get the job done.

Thanks for the heads up. I doubt that this will get used 100 times before I leave this realm, even if that takes another 20 years. That fact absolutely went into my thinking!

Mosca You beat me to it. Doesn’t everyone have a 30 year-old blender they got for a wedding present and use 5x/year? We do!

Sid P I think we’ve used ours about 5x since we got it as a wedding present 20+ years ago.

My wife and I got a Ninja for our wedding. I hoped it’d die quickly so I could buy a Blendtec…but, dang it…11+ years later and it’s still going strong!

The three heights of blades make quick work of anything.

And while it might not suit brother Mosca, and since the Ninja is trending in comments, Sam's Club has the Ninja Pro package on sale for this month at 100 beans...........roughly $60 bucks better than other sales: Ninja Professional Plus Kitchen Blender System and 8-Cup Food Processor (BN805A) - Sam's Club (samsclub.com)

Yeah, I had pretty much given up on the Kitchenaide blender, and always cursed it when trying to use it for frozen drinks. The Ninja was a game changer, and I think with its multi level blades, I am pondering getting rid of the food processor that we rarely use, as the blender ought to be able to do any of that type stuff.

jfmorris actually one motivation for me was that the food processor wasn’t doing a good job on double duty! It was leaving some things a bit too lumpy.

I don’t anticipate using either appliance very much, though. The food processor comes out fewer than 10 times a year. My thought is, if a recipe requires either a food processor or a blender, I’d better be damn well set on giving it a shot.

I had a recipe that called for the slicing blade on the fp. I got out the mandoline instead.
