Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Perhaps this is the turning point for me to enter this new and exciting ( well new to me) era of cooking to temp instead of time, touch, look and smell!
Guess I’m in.
You are going to be so impressed at how your results will improve. Not taking away the fact that you already put out good food but having a better control takes it up a level. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after using.
Once again David thanks for your offer to help out.
This deal is huge for me. Payed less than the normal selling price including shipping and taxes to South Africa. Can't say that's not a great deal. I'll have to pay VAT @ 15% of the purchase price when it arrives at customs, thereafter they'll courier it to my home.
It is very similar, basically an improved version. Here is David Parrish 's reply to a post of mine last year: Regarding the SNS-500. It's more than a rebadged XR-50. I took the design back to the drawing table. We've killed a couple of bugs the XR-50 had and improved the performance. We lowered the price because there's no middle man.
Improvements include:
Dual color backlight that won't fade when the alarms go off
Volume control for the alarms
Truly waterproof probes.
Consistent operation of both power buttons. Quick press to turn each unit on. Long press to turn each unit off.
Alarms are even easier to program.
The Receiver has a built in dual LED light so you can use it as a flashlight
There's probably more. That's just off the top of my head. We're pretty proud of this one!
