- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Interesting. I didn't know what I was looking at initially, as I thought it was an electric grill. Now that I see it uses charcoal, the concept of a kamado with a built in temp controller and fan is intriguing. Not sure it will be reliable given the quality you would expect at the $224 price point...

Interesting is the word. Hadn't heard anything about it. This one came out of nowhere. That price is scary low.

I am temped, but I honestly thought my next cooker was going to be something other than another Akorn.
$224 is a heck of a deal for this, though. Even if you end up trashing the auto temp and buy a new ash pan to run manual, you still end up cheaper than a full price no-control Akorn...

LOVE mine; only 2 cooks so far, but Love the set n forget on low n slow
Followed Manuf. suggested lighting procedure & put a grocery store ham on yesterday - held 210 ish for hours no muss, no fuss. Agree w/ Gboss that the pit probe reads lower than my inkbird, compensated today with three racks of ribs by setting desired temp at 210 (instead of 235). This thing ROCKS!! And even though I paid more for it than the Walmart sale price it's STILL cheaper than a firebird/fan for my Weber Kettle 👌

HA! Just bought one from Lowe's last week 🥴
Thought *I* got a deal at $360 😩
Tempted to return it ... then get the $140 cheaper one from wally 😬
But so far, it's an AWESOME cooker

Yes, Lowe's could do that - but the story goes deeper
Purchased a week ago Monday, brought it home and started the assembly - hit a snag that could only be fixed by Char-griller sending a new body (bottom of the egg-part) which meant removing and re-installing legs and other hardware. When I fussed at Char-Griller about that hassle, they said "return to retailer and get another". The retailer only had that one and the sale price we bought it at ($399) ended last Wednesday. We ordered another to be shipped to house; got here Saturday via FedEx(!) went together flawlessly and had our first cook on it yesterday (work, lack of meat, etc. ...). STILL haven't returned the buggered one, but the wife (have I mentioned that I married WAY above my pay grade?) suggested: buy the wally one, and return IT to Lowe's.
How can I NOT when it saves $140 bucks?
Peace,
Nunyaz

Failed to mention the STELLAR Customer Service from Char-Griller! They offered immediately, after registering my cooker, to send a replacement body. When I mentioned the loss of my time and effort to assemble the cooker up to that point, only to have to dis-assemble and re-assemble all the parts onto the new one, she opened the 'return to retailer' door.
After accepting that option, we mentioned the travel time and the fact that the cooker was a gift intended to cook a dinner for a party. We asked if there wasn't something they could do to compensate us for the time and aggravation, like the custom cover and the ceramic diffuser, she said she could ship either at no charge. We got the cover in a few days! (The ceramic diffuser is a wee bit cheaper at Amazon.)
Also, for those on the fence Tom Horsman (from the land of grills) has a review video on this cooker:
LOVE, Love, love mine (okay, not as much as I love my wife, but close 😉) - it has answered my needs for set n forget low n slow beautifully!
AND, at the $228 (with tax) price from wally - it's a WAY better solution, dollar-wise, than a fireboard/fan for the kettle. PLUS I got a wee bit o MCS fix 😂
Peace,
Nunyaz
