    25% off Pitboss Griddles

Got an email yesterday that Pitboss is offering 25% off their griddles over the weekend with code GRIDDLE25

And of course I have been down a big rabbit hole on how the Pitboss griddles compare to my Blackstone. A couple main things I have seen are on the Ultimate line they have a ceramic coated griddle compared to the steel on a Blackstone. Of course there are plusses and minuses with that.

The Ultimate line also looks to be very portable. You can just lift the top part off the base and take it with you which is a nice feature compared to my Blackstone.

Anyone else have a Pitboss griddle? Any thoughts on how they compare to the other brands?

Save 25% on Pitboss Griddles with code GRIDDLE25

I've done 4 or 5 cooks on my Ultimate 5 burner. I dearly love it. Cleanup is a breeze. I have no comparison, though, because I haven't owned any others. Also, I have it on the cart now but will build it in to my new outdoor kitchen which is in final design phase now. I chose it specifically for the easy cleaning and likelihood the finish will not rust in the Florida heat and humidity.

Yeah, some of the videos I saw of people using it and cleaning it were pretty amazing compared to other griddles. Will be interesting to see how that holds up over months or years.

Looks like that code isn't good on the Ultimate line unfortunately but still works on the standard griddles.

Keep in mind places like Walmart may still be cheaper if you compare prices even with the discount. That said, PB offers discounts for vets too.

With all the hoopla recently about the Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle, there’s been a lot of interest from some of our members. Pit Boss makes pellet grills, charcoal and gas grills, as well as griddles and accessories, so I thought I’d share this with The Pit. Pit Boss offers a 25% discount off any regular priced product they make

I just swapped a Blackstone 2-burner for a Pit Boss Ultimate 2-burner and I am SOOOOO Happy! The Pit Boss is a dream to use and clean. The Blackstone cooked just fine, but maintenance became a hassle for me. I kept having to deal with my very poor "seasoning" skills or lack thereof - just couldn't keep the BS from getting rust or losing seasoning. Total non-issue with the Pit Boss. I think the Blackstone burned a little hotter, but that may be from the design of the 2-burner PB. The 3-burner definitely gets hotter if that is an important decision point.

The Pit Boss Ultimate 2 burner is my first griddle to own, so I can’t compare it with anything else either. But I agree with the others about the ease of cleanup…also the ease of cooking. Most of the time while cooking you don’t have food sticking to the surface. I also like the fact you can light all burners at once if you want, instead of one at a time. It’s also started on the first click for me, every time.

And you’re correct, with the exception of the Pit Boss 5 burner, all the rest are detachable from the cart, so you can use it elsewhere.

PJ, can you mount the gas cylinder on either side, or does it have to go on the right?

It has to go on the right. There’s a top and bottom mounting bracket for it. They can only be installed on the right side.

I like these but is the cooking surface solid ceramic, or coated? I'd be concerned that if they are coated the ceramic could peel or chip. Am I off base?

It is ceramic coated. No idea if that will be an issue down the road. However, for me, using this griddle is a pleasure compared to the issues I struggled with using/maintaining the Blackstone.

Okay, I pulled the trigger. It’s a forgiveness over permission situation.

PJ, did you look into a cover? Walmart suggests the 4 burner cover. I won’t need one until winter I don’t think, I run my stuff uncovered during the main season.

Congrats sir, you’re gonna love it! Mine stays in my garage, so I didn’t look into a cover. Not sure why they recommend the 4 burner cover for the 3 burner. But, the covers are made to cover the whole griddle, even with both side shelves up. Your right side shelf, where the tank goes under, will stay up all the time, unless you remove the propane tank.

For anyone wondering, a quick search finds that, aside from the color of the lid, this grill is EXACTLY the same as the Ultimate. Often a Walmart-sold product uses thinner sheet metal, or skimps somewhere else. Not the case on this one.

You’ll also want to get you some high heat nylon spatulas. Here’s a set of 3 I bought and they work great, if you don’t have any.

I’m sure you checked a few Walmarts in your area, but maybe you could try expanding your search, say 100 miles outside your area? If you didn’t mind driving that far. Houston didn’t have any when I checked today, but one location about 100 miles away had 3.

I gave it another shot at another store. It still shows in stock at my local.

I guess I'm a bit annoyed with Pit Boss - can someone please tell me the dimensions of the cooking area for these Ultimate griddles? Pit Boss' website tells me the 'square inches' of cooking space, but does not actually tell me the SIZE of the damned griddle!

I even downloaded the User Manual from the link on the bottom of the page, and I STILL can't find the dimensions of the cooking area! UGH! At least not easily in a quick reference format - I don't want to have to go slogging through and searching to find something so basic and common. These kinds of things annoy me, companies don't think about simple stuff people want to know.

I also don't like the grease management system they have, I think putting that grease hole really cuts down on your ability to use all the griddle surface area. I know for me, for a lot of the things I cook, I'd be a little hesitant to move over into that area because I'd be afraid of dropping stuff down in there and losing it. Meh, it's not a YUGE deal, no, but I just don't care for it. I know it has its advantages, too.

But I'm really interested in how this ceramic coating holds up over time, especially at high heats.

Pretty sure those aren’t the size of the griddle surface though. That sounds like the assembled width with the shelves extended.

Five burner cooking surface is 36 by 18 1/4. You lose roughly 2 1/2 by 3 for the grease hole, which I find incredibly convenient.

There ya go - yeah, the griddle surface itself is what I'm interested in. I appreciate the measurements Jim White!
