I've never had a problem with the fresh ones. My last order arrived plenty cold when it was in the 90s.

Thats $18/lb for prime ribeyes? Wasn't the sale earlier better pricing?

Yes, this isn't their best sale compared with the recent past....but with prices rising everywhere, especially on high end meat, I'm not sure we'll ever see the old sale prices any time soon.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I bought Ribeye roast in January that was $210. The timing is good b/c I only have a few steaks left but am wondering if a better deal is to be had in the future. But damn is that good meat.

Anything is possible, but probably unlikely to be a better deal in the near future. Inflation momentum and industry herd culling that's occurring at record rates, it's likely today's prices will look like screamin' deals in 6 months or so. Recession impacts might curb prices some, but wouldn't count on it for premium products.

Pigs are omnivores so not sure about "100% vegetarian fed."
4 racks for $99 is a good price.

We are vegetarians. We only eat things that eat vegetables.

Just wondering how are slaughter houses(or wherever the beef is processed) handling the influx of cattle? Would think increased culling would create bottlenecks somewhere along the line.
I see it heavily in the current environment in my industry (telecom equipment repair / logistics).
And we're not dealing with products that need processed in a time sensitive manner...
is over culling on the front end creating bottlenecks further down the line?

As you're aware from your industry, there are always many more factors in process than the one or two reasons most humans prefer to reduce the discussion to for ease of mental processing. We have plenty of processing capacity, and, with flash freezing, storage options, but demand has been relatively strong so production finds a market fairly quickly. Here's an article with some additional nuggets to consider: https://www.drovers.com/news/beef-pr...tunity-feeders

conversational question: asked neighbor if they were interesting in splitting a Creekstone order (because why not share the fun).

Their response: "doesn't sound like a good deal to me. Let's check out restaurant depot for better prices"

Haven't been to RD recently for meat. Is neighbor making a fair apple-ish to apple-ish comparison, or only responding to the price point?

If they can't tell, or don't know, the difference (if there is) then, yes, it's only a price choice.

They’re all different. I’ve seen people post quality product, but my local RD is poor quality and more expensive than the supermarkets. It seems to cater to the cash and carry restaurant clientele.

Never ordered meat online but I am tempted to get the flank and the ribs...

The flanks are virtually indistinguishable from Allen Bros Wagyu flanks; we did a side by side.

Casual driveby at the local Sams and Costco. Sams didn't have a whole prime ribeye (only choice, for $9.88/lb).

Costco's whole choice ribeye price: $10.99 Their Prime whole ribeye price: $15/lb.

Restaurant Depot pricing aside (didn't have time to visit yet) --- sell us on why Creekstone is worth that extra $3/lb, 'cause we're oh-so-tempted still, but want to justify the extra $35. We've seen in the previous thread the comparison of the Costco ribeyes to the Creekstone ones (where the Creekstone looked SO much better).

But tell us more. We are 100% behind the "better ingredients, better pizza" philosophy. What makes this offer and product worth our time?

Of course we've spent $35 on crazier things, but this is like those times you drive around town to save $0.10/gallon of gas when you're really only looking at saving a total of $1.00 on the fill-up. So we're happy to pull the Creekstone trigger, but want help explaining why it's the right decision.

      No.

Seriously, you've been here long enough to know Creekstone's rep. If you don't want to spent the $, fine. If you do, fine. The only way you're going to know if it's worth it to you is to buy something local, buy something from Creekstone and compare.

Yeah, what he said. Creekstone truly is top notch in my personal experience and opinion. Value and 'worth it' is of course purely a personal feeling.

Purchase both and compare. In my experience, USDA Choice encompasses a wide range, from just below Prime to just above Select. I have always been happier with choice packer briskets from Rosauer's than from Fred Meyer, here in Yakima, WA. On my last order at Rosauer's, I specified to the young lady that I wanted it in the top third of Choice. She was confused; as I was explaining, a butcher walked out and overheard me. He helped explain. I said to him that I have always been happier with Rosauer's beef. His response,"that is why I work here. They do a really good job of selecting meat."

Prices between the stores are typically competitive. Behind the scenes management makes the difference.
We are also fortunate that Snake River Farms owns Washington Beef in Toppenish, 20 miles away. Lots of good local beef.

Top steakhouses advertise "Creekstone Farms". I haven’t seen one yet that lists "Restaurant Depot" or "Costco".

They wouldn't list it, because it doesn't sound fancy. I'm sure many restaurants use it, and call it "Chef selected" or something meaningless like that.

I ordered their cowboy steaks at Christmas for backup in case we didn’t have enough prime rib. Ended up not needing them and had them a few weeks later. They were the best steaks I’ve ever made. When the ribeye roast sale happened in January I didn’t even blink. Fantastic. While I love Costco I’ve never been enamored with their prime steaks. Granted they were strip steaks they just didn’t blow me away. Creekstone did. I’m going to buy another ribeye roast and will buy more steaks from them when I need to go Christmas 🎄 shopping for my family.

Ordered my rib roast last Thursday, the day I made this topic. It came today exacty as expected, since orders placed after noon on Weds do not ship until the following Mon, then arrive 2 days after that.

It was 42 degrees on the surface, per my infrared gun. It weighs 17.0 lbs of the promised 14-16, so I am a happy boy. Into the fridge it goes for at least a month.

FYI, flanks, strip loins and whole tenderloins are still instock and on sale. https://shop.creekstonefarms.com/collections/specials
