Good price, I love my Akorn. I'm on my second one, as the first I just left it outside in NW Indiana weather and the bottom ash pan rusted and wouldn't hold temp any longer. I don't remember who posted this BRILLIANT bit of knowledge, but Thank you. "When not in use take the ash pan off so any water that gets in just pours out the bottom." again Brilliant!

Why not align the ash pan with Extra Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil?

bbqLuv the design of the ash bucket isn’t really well suited for lining as it has bars on the top for attaching to the smoker.

It's the design of it. when it gets rained on water drips down and leaks a tiny amount of water into the ashpan. If not used for a couple or really heavy rain you have to actually take the ash pan off and dump it out. Which is actually a task since it will only drain from air intake damper.
The pan is outer steel, air gap, ash pan. The water gets into the air gap.

I liked my Akorn, but I would not ever buy another, unless it was an EXCEPTIONAL deal. I graduated to the Primo.
