Made the trip to Sobeys this morning and came home with 2 huge skinless pork bellies, 28 lbs total. Also got some chicken thighs and wings, a Boston butt, and a beautiful chuck roast (Canadian AAA which is equivalent to USDA Prime). The AAA chucks are also on sale until May 4th for $5.99/lb ($4.68 in Freedom dollars). I already have 2 packer briskets in the freezer so I passed on those.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Happy baconing, or belly burnt endsing. I am jealous of those who can just go to a store and buy pork belly. I used to at Sam's but they haven't had it in years and the butcher there told me they cannot get it or even order it. I don't care quite enough to seek out and order elsewhere, but it was convenient when in the bin.
Sorry to hear that there is a dearth of pork belly in your area. Not being able to get something that US folks just take for granted is kind of a common thing up here so I know the feeling. Bacon, burnt ends are definitely on the schedule and this weekend I'm doing pork belly sliders on the MGS. Yummy.

pkadare Yep, always regional tradeoffs depending on the chunk of dirt a person calls home. About the time my local Sam's started carrying packer briskets is also about when they stopped with the pork bellies. I would rather it be this way! Finding packers were like finding a unicorn here for a long time.
