I know it's a limited area, but there are some nice looking Santa Maria Grills in stock at SoCal Costcos. They're priced at $399, which is a hundred bucks cheaper than direct from the manufacturer.
The Original & Authentic Santa Maria style oak pit adjustable bbq. Backyard, tailgater, or professional tow behind. Online or see us in Costco. Accessories too!
We camped at Lopez Lake near Arroyo Grande one year (heart of Santa Maria territory), it was Mother's Day weekend. I swear everyone cooking lakeside had one of these. There were at least 50 groups there, and they all one. I'd never seen one before, so I asked one group, and they said that Costco had a special on them.
Checked out my local Costco (Temecula, CA) this afternoon and all they had were the pellet poopers that have been on display (with the annoying reps) for the last few weeks.

I bought mine from COSTCO a few years ago. If you can find one with the lip of the grate facing up, chose that one. GrillGrates fit perfectly on them. The lip secures them nicely. Also, the coal lift from the Santa Maria BBQ Outfitter company (manufacturer of these) is a really good add on. I love my unit.
I would love to have one. My issue is living in a valley surrounded by mountains. We can get some good winds just at the time when you want to start cooking in the evening. It's almost rare when it doesn't happen. It makes grilling and smoking here at 8500 feet in elevation a challenge.
I was looking at the grills at my local Costco this morning. These were not available. Good thing or I'd have gotten myself in trouble with my wife when I came home with one.
