Operation BBQ Relief is deployed to Orange Beach, AL
Operation BBQ Relief continues to provide the one hot meal that matters. Since August 16, we have provided over 450,000 meals – 70,360 meals in Cedar Rapids and 387,427 in Beaumont and Lake Charles. Additionally,we have teamed up with several restaurants and organizations in California to provide over 15,000 meals to evacuees and first responders affected by the wildfires.
With back to back deployment, I am amazed at the heart and determination of our volunteers, staff, and supporters who continue to make sacrifices to serve communities in need. We had sponsors and organizations who not only supported us financially but rolled up their sleeves to donate their time on the ground. We had volunteers and staff who came to Cedar Rapids and then went straight down to Lake Charles to share the healing power of BBQ without a stop home in between. We had volunteers who helped out in Lake Charles for several days, returned home, and came back a few days later to continue to help us as we faced volunteer shortages. We had drivers put in thousands of miles on the road to ensure our products and equipment were delivered on time.
Hurricane Sally added a new layer of challenge but our team continues to be a force for good in serving communities. While we pack up and finish last meals in Lake Charles on Saturday, Jay Collins - Chief of Programs has been visiting with local officials in cities affected by Hurricane Sally. We will begin serving meals in Orange Beach, AL today.
Operation BBQ Relief will continue to be proactive in responding to natural disasters. I am extremely grateful to our network of supporters and volunteers who have joined the OBR family in our efforts to feed communities in need.
Thank you for your continued support as we prepare for a 3rd deployment in just 35 days.
Please consider supporting Operation BBQ Relief to feed communities in need.
Much respect,
Stan Hays, CEO and Co-Founder
