Operation Barbecue Relief (OBR) current deployments to southeast for Helene and soon-to-be FL for Milton
As a reminder Operation Barbecue Relief (OBR) is out there doing a lot of good helping feed the needy and the first responders in the many storm-ravaged areas of FL to NC, and will surely be on the scene in any capacity they can after Milton wreaks its devastation. Please consider donating if it is within your means.
A portion of our weekly grocery bill is spent on items donated to a local food pantry.
we’ve doubled down on that the last 2 weeks, with the additional funds ticketed to OBR.
Our intent is to continue that for the foreseeable future. We’ve certainly had our share of struggles through the years, (as we all have) and folks have been there for us. Time to pay that forward…
our blessings are many. More so when we share them
I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
Today was a great day at the Pinellas Park OBR site. We celebrated reaching 12 million meals served. I’m somewhere in that crowd.
One thing that really makes this cool is that on my first deployment, in 2018 in Wilmington, NC, we celebrated 1 million.
Anyhow, this site is an Amazon warehouse that is not being used right now. All our work is under a covered space that normally is the loading dock. I got sent into the warehouse to find a box of rub. “It’s in there somewhere” was all the help the sender gave us, so I can confirm there was a LOT of stuff in there. Finally got help from the forklift guy and returned triumphantly.
My shift started at noon, so I ate a quick light lunch and wandered around to get some pics to share. My understanding is the general goal is about 50,000 meals a day at this site.
