I'm not sure everyone is aware, but our city, Clarksville, was hit by a pretty devastating EF-3 tornado on Saturday the 9th at around 1:30 in the afternoon. Latest update has 243 individual residences destroyed (houses, duplexes, and apartments), and 1,173 damaged. 53 commercial properties and 3 public utilities damaged or destroyed. Unfortunately, 3 people lost there lives, including a 10 year old boy. Luckily, my neighborhood was unaffected, with the tornado missing us by about a 1/4 mile as is crossed I-24. Operation BBQ Relief is here providing meals, and I am proud to have volunteered with them before after the Nashville tornado in 2020, and the Waverly flood in 2021. I never thought I would see them in my own town, though. Any support you could show them would be greatly appreciated by our community as they begin to pick up the pieces as we enter the holiday season. With Ft. Campbell right next door, our military community has also been hit hard, but have also responded overwhelmingly with volunteer work to help clean up. So much so that the city had to pause the clean up effort yesterday so that the debris and garbage trucks could get caught up with what had already been pilled up next to the streets. Power has mostly been restored, with only around 2000 homes without it today. There are multiple YouTube videos up showing the tornado as it came through the city, and it's devastating to see, but also incredible footage. Please keep those who lost everything in your thoughts and prayers. While there is never a convenient time for this to happen, this is a particularly difficult time of the year to be in those circumstances. And thank you OBR for being there for my community!
