I recently dehydrated a lot of vegetables that can be ground for fresh seasonings (bell peppers - plain and smoked, onions, garlic, horseradish, etc.). I want to seal them for freshness, with the ability to open, use what I need, and reseal. I've used vacuum sealed mason jars with regular metal lids many times, but I've never had much luck reusing them and getting a seal, so I usually end up throwing them away - not a good open/reseal option. I looked at the tupperware-style resealable vacuum containers, but they are crazy expensive; plus I hate dealing with mismatched containers and lids.
I'd seen mixed reports online whether using Tattler lids works for vacuum sealing. One way to find out... I sealed this jar of horseradish yesterday and it's still perfectly sealed today - no reason to think it won't hold but it's not an item that will spoil if it happens (just lose some freshness if left too long), so this is a good test.
Anybody else have field reports on vacuum sealing with Tattler lids?
