    Vacuum Sealer Bag Enhancement

Not sure if I have ever shared this here before.

I just got done vacuum sealing 40 lbs. of chicken wings using my vacuum bag diaper insert.

To keep the meat liquid from running into the chamber and hampering the seal quality I’ll fold up one sheet of select-a-size paper towel and insert it into my bag after I put in the meat. As you vacuum the bag the liquid soaks into the paper towel piece and stays in the bag.

Good idea, I usually pre-freeze the moist ingredients. This will save time.

Wow that is a great call. I wish I would have through of that a long time ago. I need to get a new vac sealer as I dropped mine on the garage floor the other day. (Not the Vac master)

This would have saved me hours of cleaning over the years. Thanks for posting this.

At least you missed hitting your toes! And what kind of vacuum sealer is it that can't stand a drop from waist height? JK.

A cheapo food saver vac sealer. Thankfully, if I’d dropped the vac master I would have hole in my garage floor. It weighs over 100 lbs. fzxdoc

I dropped a frozen brisket on my toe the other day. Currently the toenail is black. Not sure if it's fixin' to fall off or not.

Nice, as if I don't use enough paper towels as it is.

Excellent! The Umai Dry bags have something similar to this…but I’ve never done it for regular foods!

                thanks for sharing!

Good idea. I have always double bagged, first using a ziplock then sealing that in the vacuum bag.

Good thought. My sealer has a "moist" mode that seems to draw much more strongly so that whatever moisture can't reach the sealing seam before the seal is complete. Works pretty well, but this move would definitely help!

I usually time it by watching the liquid moving towards the seal and sealing manually before it reaches the heat strip. This is so much better.

This ranks right up there with RonB 's insert recommendation for getting food into the bag clean as a whistle. That tip has been invaluable to me!

As is this one...even with my chamber vac I keep a close eye the "liquid creep" phenomenon. Thanks!

Thanks for posting the link to the other tip! I had forgotten about that.

                          These are both great ideas.

I have been doing that for a few years now. We catch a lot of walleye and salmon so trying to freeze moist filets is near to impossible until I started doing that trick with them. Nothing worse than air in a bag with frozen fish.
